Tuesday 31st March 2009

Can't believe it's the last day of March! Another month flies by. Spring has definitely sprung and the children are on holiday. We had a good weekend of sport and socialising. I went to the theatre on Friday night with some friends from the village. The play was not very good and I must be wiser in making decisions about where I spend my time! However the meal afterwards at Wagamama's was great- very healthy spicy prawn dish washed down with elderflower cordial and green tea!

We went to friends from church on Saturday night for a lovely meal. Harry played in the band during both services on Sunday. The service was awesome as usual and Paul's sermon 'God is Jesus' was amazing. It is so difficult to get my head around the Trinity at times, but Paul, who was preaching, has a gift in exposing the truth of the bible( God's word) in a way that makes it easier to understand. There have been so many sermons of his where God's truths have become very real in my life as I have finally grasped the true meaning. For eg heaven on earth, open heaven, baptism in water, and grace to think of a few.

Yesterday I worked for a lot of the day but only managed about 300 words. Today I have been to the OU for a workshop and then took the children to McDonalds for a late lunch and then went shopping. Bought clothes for Charlie and Rosie and 2 pairs of trousers for me. Haven't been shopping for such a long time it seems- apart from online food and text books from Amazon.

Graham has just appeared home from work. He is off to a meeting at church about setting up a local football team. He is then going swimming with Harry and Rosie. I really need to work hard over the next few days as I want to finish my methodology and research proposal before next week's supervision. So tonight will be spent writing with the occasional scrabble move on Facebook!

Finished my cardigan last night and I am wearing it as I type this. I have just the yoke of the cardigan/jacket to complete of something I started to knit last year, but want to finish it before it gets too warm to wear it.

Thursday 26th March 2009

I've had a good couple of days but am feeling tired as I have been working quite hard. I think I've underestimated how hard thinking and writing can be, or it might just be me.

It was Charlie's parents evening tonight. Most of the teachers were pleased with his progress but a couple felt he was easily distracted and mucked about with his mates in class too much. His grades are good though and I just hope he reaches his potential by next year when he sits his GCSEs. My constant prayer for him is that he seeks God's direction on his future career choice.

The children break up from school tomorrow for nearly a month. Yippee! Can't wait for the lazy mornings. I still have to work though but will fit it in around them.

Can't wait to see our friends who are driving over from Cambridge tomorrow. Graham has taken a day off work and the men plan to play golf in the morning. I have to collect the children at 12pm so we won't have much time to ourselves but it will be good to catch up with them.

Can't believe how quickly the weeks go by- already nearly through yet another month. Life, slow down!!

Monday 23rd March 2009

It was Mothers' Day yesterday. My lovely children brought me breakfast in bed which was a nice start to the day. Graham then took Charlie to rugby and the rest of us stayed at home and baked a chocolate fudge cake as Graham's parents were coming over in the afternoon. We went to church after they left. The service was great as usual with the focus on parenting God's way.

After church we went out for a meal at Pizza Express.

Haven't gone to the gym this morning as I'm not feeling 100%. Think I've eaten something that has disagreed with me. So I'm trying to work, do housework, sort out Charlie's bedroom (to accommodate his new chest of drawers we bought from Ikea on Saturday)and organise a party in May in memory of our neighbour who died last December.

Signs of Spring

I am so loving this beautiful sunny day. It has been 16 degrees! The daffs are looking lovely in the garden- a real sign that Spring is around the corner.

It is so nice and warm that I am going to walk to watch Rosie play hockey shortly.

I have had a couple of good days at work and feel I have made some progress- I still have loads to achieve within the next few months but at least I've started the process.

Sunday 15th March 2009

I'm aching just a tad after yesterday. The high ropes were good fun in a scary sort of way. The free fall from 100 feet - bungee type jump was awful and I won't be doing that again.

The weather is changing and Spring is definitely in the air. The daffodils are almost out and the village is looking lovely. Looking forward to the day ahead

Feeling content

All is well and I am feeling more at ease with my research. In fact I am now feeling quite excited by what it may achieve. But I MUST remain focused on God and not me.

'The fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom' and I was grateful to have been reminded of that last week in church.

I have been in to work three days this week and attended a poster training workshop on Monday which was very informative. I have some ideas and need to email a film company in the States to gain permission to use some of their stills from a film called 'The Sandwich Generation'. So, I am at home now until next Tuesday which is great. I intend to work for several hours during the day whilst the children are at school. Graham is working from home on Friday which is a shame as I have arranged to meet up with a friend in St Neots for lunch. We have decided to go out together though just the two of us on Saturday night.

Graham and the children are well. They are all so busy with sport and music and have busy weekends ahead with parties, football, rugby, band, and climbing at an outdoor centre. I am also going to a High Ropes course with some friends from church on Saturday.

Cat up a tree!

Lulu got stuck up my next door neighbour's tree for over two hours this morning! Another neighbour and myself ended up lifting a fully extended ladder to one of the branches which she climbed down. Wasn't very happy. She thinks she is a squirrel.

Have had a great weekend. Our trip to the hotel was relaxing and then we went out in the evening with our husbands which was nice. On Saturday we caught up with some friends from the village and Sunday we went to church which was amazing as usual. Luke's sermon was fantastic. The topic was ' God is Faithful'. He is such an anointed speaker and we, as a church are really blessed to have him as a leader.

Half a pound weight loss- that's all!!!! Not surprised really but it is a bit shameful considering it is my first week back and that my friend lost 3 pounds. Never mind.

Supervision was better today and I feel some progress has been made as I am clearer about my research questions. I feel I am chipping away at a great big piece of rock which will ultimately ( hopefully) turn into a great piece of sculpture! I can do this with God's help and it is still early days. I see the process as my job which I will do my best at. Thankfully, it fits around the children's school times ( or else I wouldn't have embarked on the PhD) which is great.

Graham is out with some blokes from church and the children are all ok. Lots happening this weekend but I am looking forward to it. I can't wait for tomorrow. I am going away for the day with three friends for a pampering spa day at a hotel. It will be great to spend time with them amongst beautiful relaxing surroundings.

Another month has flown by......

We've had a hectic few days with Harry's party at the weekend. He had 5 friends over for a sleepover on Saturday. Graham took them to the cinema to see Pink Panther which they enjoyed. Not much sleep was had by anybody that night- me included but we made church in the morning. Harry was playing in the band so it was good that his friends could see him play.

We upset the neighbours in the afternoon when Harry took his amp and mike outside and rigged up a radio station, playing requests for the neighbours. Some thought it was funny but others didn't so we had to pull the plug on the amp and go inside.

Rosie and Harry were busy with sport, Charlie football and rugby and Rosie netball. Rosie also sang in the Beds Music Festival with the choir but came last.

It was Harry's birthday yesterday so we all went out to Frankie and Benny's for tea.

I have supervision tomorrow and feel apprehensive about it. I have worked harder this week so I am hoping that my supervisors will be pleased with my efforts.

I am off to Stapleford Manor with three friends on Friday for a spa day which I'm looking forward to. We went last year and really enjoyed a day of pampering.

WeightWatchers tomorrow- not looking good, but I might have lost a pound. I have done body pump at the gym this week and a 50 minute workout this morning which I feel good about.
